BOKO HARAM FRESH ATTACK CLAIMS 20 NEAR CHIBOK

boko haram
Suspected members of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram have reportedly killed 20 people in a fresh attack on two villages near Chibok, Borno state, ThisDay reports.

Muhammed Abbas Gava, spokesperson for the Nigerian civilian militia made this known to Associated Press.

Gava said the militants attacked Kamtahi and Galtimari villages on Monday evening, adding that they burnt houses and shot sporadically while residents were forced to flee for their lives.

“Virtually every house in the two villages were burnt to ash. The villages were totally razed down as residents fled for their lives, some with injuries,” Gava said.

When the Borno State police command spokesman, Gideon Jubrin, was contacted for confirmation, he denied knowledge of the alleged attack.

It would be recalled that there were two suicide bombings on Tuesday at a crowded marketplace.

According to a medical doctor in Maiduguri, the state capital, Dr. Musa Taji, no fewer than 70 people were killed.

Suspected Boko Haram members on Monday attacked the village of Damasak, with improvised explosive devices and petrol bombs.

Also no fewer than 50 people were reportedly killed last week by the sect in a fishing settlement of Doron Baga, along the shores of Lake Chad.

A Human Rights Watch researcher, Mausi Segun, however, hinted that Boko Haram has carried out a series of bombing campaigns since the sect members gunmen stole eight trucks of explosive materials from a cement factory in Gombe earlier this month.

Borno State, located in the North-East has been under repeated attacks by the sect. Chibok, is one of the communities in the state where over 234 female students were abducted by the militants on April 14.

Boko Haram has killed thousands of innocent Nigerians since its five-year-old Islamic uprising.

In a reaction to these killings and atrocities, President Goodluck Jonathan recently requested an extension of emergency rule in three troubled states of Adamawa, Yobe, Borno, but the request is being stalled by the lawmakers as some of them opined that the emergency rule has not yielded any positive desired since it was imposed May 2013.

An international group, Amnesty International in its recent report said the Boko Haram insurgency has killed over 1,500 people this year.

It would be recalled that the European Union (EU) on November 25, revealed plans to give the sum of €5 million to boosts its humanitarian aid to the displaced victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in north-eastern part of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, former militants of the Niger Delta have accused some Northern political leaders of secretly sponsoring and aiding the Boko Haram insurgency in parts of the country, alleging that they were doing so to mar the peaceful running of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Obasanjo called National Assembly an Assembly of Thieves, Looters

olusegun obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, today Nov. 26th rubbished the National Assembly, saying it is an Assembly of looters and thieves. He said this while speaking at the public presentation of the autobiography of Justice Mustapha Akanbi, in Abuja. Some of what he said below...
"Apart from shrouding the remunerations of the National Assembly in opaqueness and without transparency, they indulge in extorting money from departments, contractors and ministries in two ways"
"They do so during visits to their projects and programmes and in the process of budget approval when they build up budgets for ministries and departments, who agree to give it back to them in contracts that they do not execute. They do similar things during their inquiries.”
"Corruption in the National Assembly also includes what they call constituency projects which they give to their agents to execute but invariably, full payment is made with little or no job done. In all this, if the executive is not absolutely above board, the offending members of the National Assembly resort to subtle or open threat, intimidation and blackmail. When the executive pay the huge money, normally in millions of dollars, all is quiet in form of whitewashed reports that fail to deal effectively with the issues investigated.”
"When the guard is the thief, only God can keep the house safe and secure. But I am optimistic that sooner than later, we will overcome. God will give us guards of integrity and honesty with the fear of God and genuine love of their people and their country.
“Today, there is no institution of government that is not riddled with corruption, not even the military. As the people cry out, where then is the salvation.” Obasanjo said

Obasanjo blasts Jonathan again

olusegun obasanjo
CORRUPTION as a recurring factor in Nigeria again came under focus on Wednesday with former President Olusegun Obasanjo rapping the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and the National Assembly for promoting corruption and poor governance.

“For quite some time, the covered and hushed-up corruption has had its toll on the economy,” Obasanjo said.

He said the increasing corruption under Jonathan had damaged the economy, warning that “in the future, we will have a budget that cannot be funded.”

“We may have to borrow to pay salaries and allowances. Revenue allocation to states and local governments has already drastically reduced. Capital projects at all levels may have to be drastically cut or stopped,” he added.

The ex-President spoke in Abuja at the presentation of books by a former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, retired Justice Mustapha Akanbi. Obasanjo was the chairman of the occasion.

He said, “Nigeria cannot continue to indulge in disdain of truth, elevation of corruption and incompetence, reinforcement of failure, condonation of heinous crimes and celebration of mediocrity, tribal bigotry, fomenting violence and anti-democratic practices in states and National Assembly.

“Corruption in the National Assembly also includes what they call constituency projects, which they give to their agents to execute, but invariably, full payment is made with little or no job done.

“In all these, if the executive is absolutely above board, the offending members of the National Assembly resort to subtle or open threat, intimidation and blackmail of the executive.”

On the escalating insurgency by the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Obasanjo said Jonathan’s delayed understanding of the menace posed by the group caused the worsening insecurity in the country.

He said, “Boko Haram is not simply a menace based on religion or one directed to frustrate anybody’s political ambition. It is essentially a socio-economic problem that is tainted with religion. It is a gargantuan danger to the nation and to all Nigerians.

“Initially, President Jonathan’s understanding of Boko Haram phenomenon suffered from wrong reading and wrong imputation. That is what led us to where we are today.

“It took even the President more than three years to appreciate and understand that it is a terrible mix of poor education or lack of education; misinterpretation of what Islam and the Quran teach and stand for, poverty, unemployment, injustice, drug, gun trafficking, human trafficking, fallout from Libya, revenge, frustration, struggle against inequality, imitation of international terrorism leading to training and part of the absorption by international terrorist groups and general poor governance, including corruption. I have always maintained that the solution to Boko Haram or any organisation like it lies in the application of carrot and stick approach.”

However, Obasanjo did not go unchallenged at the forum as the Oba of Lagos, who was also the chief launcher of the Akanbi books, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, accused Obasanjo of failing to account for the barrels of crude oil sales despite boasting he would do so before he came to power.

Akinolu said Obasanjo, before he assumed the Presidency in 1999, pledged to ensure transparency in the Nigerian oil sector “but later reneged on his promise as the oil sector was besieged with quantum corruption.”

“Obasanjo failed to address the problems with the number of crude oil per barrel produced daily; how many barrels are exported for sale as well as the use of the proceeds”, the monarch alleged.

The ex-President fired back that it was during his tenure that allocation to states became transparent with the publication of monthly revenue to the three tiers of government.

He said his government “also worked out modalities to enthrone accountability and transparency in the oil sector.”

Vice-Presient Namadi Sambo, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant (Monitoring), Mr. Femi Oladele, commended Justice Akanbi’s effort on anti-corruption and commitment to service.

He said by carving a niche for himself in the fight against graft, the jurist had left indelible footprints in the sands of time.

In his remarks, Akanbi observed that although there were allegations of witch – hunt during the Obasanjo administration, the ex-President never interfered with his job in the ICPC.

National debt rises to N10.8tn

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala
The total debt of the Federal Government, the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory rose from N8.32tn on September 30, 2013 to N10.84tn on September 30, 2014.

This means that the nation’s total debt stock rose by N2.52tn or 30.29 per cent within one year period.

Statistics obtained from the website of the Debt Management Office in Abuja on Monday indicated that the N8.32tn did not include the domestic debt of the states in 2013.

Details of the current debt status of the country showed that the external debts of both the federal and state governments stood at $9.52bn or N1.48tn.

As of September 30, the domestic debt stock of the Federal Government alone stood at $49.12bn or N7.65tn. The domestic debt of states, on the other hand, stood at $10.97bn or N1.71tn.

In comparison, the external debt of both the federal and state governments stood at N1.28tn (or $8.26bn) as of September 30, 2013. Also, the domestic debt of the Federal Government a year ago stood at N7.03tn.

Dissecting the Federal Government’s current domestic debt of N7.65tn by instruments, the Federal Government Bond contributed N4.6tn or 60.12 per cent to the profile; the Nigerian Treasury Bills contributed N2.74tn or 35.76 per cent while Treasury Bonds contributed N315.39bn or 4.12 per cent.

As of June 2014, out of a total external debt of $3.01bn owed by the states, the Lagos State Government owed $1.02bn.

Other major holders of the country’s external sub-national debts include Kaduna State which owes $245.51m and Cross River State, $120.21m. Others are Ogun $116.69m; Bauchi, $111.61m; and Oyo, $80.11m.

The states least exposed to foreign debts are Borno, $16.07m; Plateau, $22.99m; Taraba, $24.06m; Delta, $24.7m; and Benue, $28.79m.

However, in comparison to the nation’s total external indebtedness, the states owed 32.13 per cent; leaving the Federal Government with 67.87 per cent.

Loans from China Export Import Bank and monies raised from Eurobond accounted for $2.54bn of the Federal Government’s $6.36bn external debt while multilateral sources accounted for $3.82bn.

As of June 2013, the nation’s total external loan stood at $6.92bn. This means that over a period of one year, the country’s external debt rose by $2.46bn, showing 35.51 per cent increase.

The growth of the nation’s debt stock can be seen in the budget for debt servicing. The Federal Government plans to spend N2.08tn servicing the country’s debt within the next three years.

The figures for debt servicing as well as the county’s debt stock are contained in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper of the Federal Government.

Senators initiate move to impeach Jonathan

senate over jonathan impeach
Some Peoples Democratic Party’s senators on Monday started impeachment moves against President Goodluck Jonathan over what they described as the high level of impunity and corruption allegedly being condoned by his administration.

Investigations by our correspondent revealed that the PDP senators had started compiling impeachable offences against the President.

An All Progressives Congress member of the Senate, who confided the development in our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, explained that his aggrieved PDP colleagues in the upper chamber had started reaching out to the opposition senators.

He said, “I was personally consulted this evening over the issue and I also cross-checked from my colleagues who also told me that they had been contacted.

“The grouse of the lawmakers, according to the person that contacted me, was that Jonathan’s handling of the last week Thursday’s invasion of the National Assembly by the police was carelessly handled by the Jonathan administration.

“From the look of things, the proceedings will start on Tuesday because some signatures had been collected already.”

Another senator from the PDP, who also craved anonymity, also confirmed the development to our correspondent stating that it was certain that the President was not capable of superintending over a free and fair election in 2015.

He said, “Our President is not in charge. We have seen that he had allowed the governors to hijack powers from him. He is just like a puppet and the earlier we act fast, the better for us.”

Meanwhile, opposition members in the Senate have threatened to raise the issue of the last Thursday’s invasion of the National Assembly by the security operatives, when the Senate resumes plenary today (Tuesday).

The spokesperson for the group, who is also the member representing Ekiti Central on the platform of the APC, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, gave the hint in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja.

Ojudu said his colleagues were very annoyed with the ways they were maltreated and molested by the policemen, who were deployed in the National Assembly on the orders of the Inspector – General of Police.

He said majority of his members were of the opinion that the IGP should not be allowed to enter into the chambers, but should be asked to resign for allegedly ridiculing the federal lawmakers who had done nothing wrong other than going to carry out their lawful legislative activities.

He said, “We (APC Senators) are holding a crucial meeting this (Monday) night to take a final decision on the matter because majority of us are really angry. Some are even of the opinion that we should demand the resignation or sacking of the IGP.

“I can assure you that the issue of the National Assembly invasion by the police would be raised when we resume sitting tomorrow (Tuesday ), but we are going to take a single position on the matter at our meeting tonight,” he added.

However, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Media and Public Affairs, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, had in an interview with our correspondent, on Saturday, maintained that the Senate would not be thrown into any chaotic situation over the Thursday’s invasion of the National Assembly complex by security operatives.

He had admitted that the IGP would appear before the Senate but assured the public that the matter would be handled with maturity.

He had said, “The Senate will discuss the invasion of the National Assembly by security operatives when it reconvenes on Tuesday. Already we have invited the Inspector – General of Police to find out who gave the order for the harassment of federal lawmakers last Thursday.

“So, I do not anticipate any form of stormy session during our sitting next Tuesday. I can assure you that the Senate is made up of gentlemen and women who are very senior citizens of the Nigerian society.

“Therefore, you cannot expect the Senate to act, except in a decorous manner.”

Abaribe also said that the Senate would still go ahead with deliberations on the emergency rule in the three north-eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe contrary to insinuations that the matter had ended since the period of emergency had lapsed.

He said, “We had invited the service chiefs and we will find out from them, the update on the insurgency situation in the north-eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe so that we can address the issue of the state of emergency requested by President Goodluck Jonathan.”

Two suicide bombers kill 45 in Maiduguri market

suicude bomber in mariduguri
A military source told our correspondent in Maiduguri that the suicide bombers hit the market at 11:23am.

Craving anonymity, the source said on the telephone, “I can confirm that there were two suicide bombers, but they are a male and female. The first suicide bomber was a female and hid the bomb on herself which she detonated at the vicinity of the market.

“Just as the people gathered around her corpse and a few other people that died in the first explosion, a male, this time around, detonated the explosive on him which killed several people.

“No one can give you the exact casualty now but over 30 persons were killed and many have been rushed to the hospital.”

********************************************************************************

Two suicide bombers – a male and female – attacked a heavily populated Maiduguri market, killing scores of people, an eyewitness, Yusuf Ahmed, said on Tuesday.

An unconfirmed source said 65 corpses had been evacuated while others claimed 30 people were killed in the explosion.

Ahmed said on the telephone, “As I am talking to you, people are still trying to rescue the injured and evacuate the corpses. It is difficult to know the number of casualties.”

He said the place had been condoned off by security agencies making it difficult to assist in the rescue operations.

A youth vigilante source confirmed that the female attacker kept a parcel in one of the shops on One-way, a commercial area beside the popular Monday Market, telling the traders that she had something to pick from the market,

“The package detonated few minutes later. And as people were still wondering what happened and trying to rescue the injured, a bomber in the same area detonated a bomb planted on her; this claimed so many lives,” the source said.

More Details later…

Man Arrested For Raping, Impregnating 13-Year-Old Daughter

It has been alleged that Benjamin Richard consistently raped his 13-year-old step daughter while her mum was away and got her pregnant.
A 35-year-old man, Benjamin Richard, has been arrested by the police after being accused of raping and impregnating his 13-year-old step-daughter, Blessing Chia in Abuja.

According to Vanguard, Blessing revealed that she was regularly beaten by her step dad before he started raping her. Blessing said she has been subjected to rape by her step dad several times but was scared of shouting or telling anyone. Blessing said her step dad raped her four times while her mum was away in Markudi, Benue State back in July.

The 13-year old however had enough and summoned the courage to report to her mum on Thursay, November 13. "I told him that I would tell my mummy and I dared to see if he would kill me. So l told my mummy," the girl told Vanguard.

Confirming the girl's story, the mother, a 30-year old Benue State indigene, Grace Richard, told the newspaper that when she returned from her trip, her daughter reported her husband to her. She however said when she confronted her husband with the allegations, he vehemently denied and threatened to beat her "black and blue" if she confronts him with such allegation again.

According to the report, Grace invited her elder sister who upon hearing the issue insisted that the matter be reported to the police. She was further advised to make Blessing undergo a virginity test before going to Nyanya Police Division to report the matter.

The virginity test did not only collaborate Blessing's allegations, it was also discovered that she was pregnant.

The investigating police officer, IPO, in charge of the case, who according to Vanguard does not want to be named, confirmed that the 13-year-old Blessing was indeed pregnant and also revealed that the suspects is still in police custody.

We Are Defeating Boko Haram- President Says

jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan said this on Friday, November 21, at the meeting of Nigeria's Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC) in London.
President Goodluck Jonathan has said that Nigeria is winning the war against terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
Jonathan said this on Friday, November 21, at the meeting of Nigeria's Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC) in London.
The president also rejoiced over the fact that the Nigerian military had been able to prevent the terrorists from capturing any new territory for a whole week.
A statement released by Jonathan's media aide, Reuben Abati reads:
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said Friday in London that the Federal Government, the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies are working very hard to ensure that the ability of Boko Haram to capture and hold any Nigerian territory is ended very soon.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting of Nigeria's Honorary International Investment Council  (HIIC), President Jonathan assured the gathering that the Armed Forces and security agencies were making steady gains in recovering areas recently taken by Boko Haram.
"We are improving on security. For about a week now there have been no reports of Boko Haram seizing more territory. Rather, we are steadily pushing them back.
The impression being created by sections of the media that the situation is worsening is not true. I can assure you that it will never get worse," President Jonathan told the gathering. The President also seized the opportunity of the occasion to call for greater support from the National Assembly for the Federal Government's efforts to curb terrorism, insurgency and insecurity in the country.
He told members of the council headed by Baroness Lynda Chalker that he had offered himself as a candidate in Nigeria's next presidential elections because he was convinced that with four more years in office, he will be able to further consolidate the positive national reforms initiated by his administration and take them to a point of irreversibility for the good of all Nigerians.
"As you already know, I have indicated my willingness to carry on for another four years if I am given the opportunity so that we can carry forward some of the reforms we have been talking about," the President said.
He cited the expansion of transportation infrastructure, improvement of local content in Nigeria's oil industry, more inclusive economic growth, job creation and national security which are on the agenda of the meeting as some of the areas in which his administration still hoped to achieve further improvements.
"We cannot move the economy forward without good infrastructure. We have been working very hard in that area. We have improved our road network significantly. In the next three to four years, we should be able to resurface almost all federal roads in the country and begin new ones."
"We are improving our airport terminals and aviation security. Reforms are also ongoing at our ports to drastically reduce the time required for import clearance formalities.  "In the rail sector, we may require private sector funds to quicken the pace of development. Our goal is to link all state capitals by rail. It may not be an objective that can be achieved by a single administration, but we want to lay a solid foundation that others can build on."
"We are also promoting the increase of local content in our oil industry, because that is the only way in which our people will benefit more from the industry and begin to see themselves as true stakeholders who need to protect and help in the development of our oil and gas resources," President Jonathan said.
He thanked Baroness Chalker and other members of the council for their valuable advice to the Federal Government over the years. "To be successful, leaders must take decisions based on adequate information and sound advice.
Having had the personal benefit of interacting with you all as Vice President and President since 2007 has helped me a lot," the President said. The meeting later went into a closed door session to receive briefings, updates and presentations from relevant ministers and council members.

I am ready for police invitation- Aminu Tambuwal

Tambuwal
There were reports yesterday that the Inspector General of Police was making plans to 'arrest' the speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, over Thursday's drama at the National Assembly. The speaker, in a statement released by his media adviser, Imam Dalhatu, says he's ready for any invitation by the police. Find his statement below...
The attention of the Hon Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR, has been drawn to publications in the media to the effect that the Inspector General of Police has ordered that he, Speaker, be invited to the Force Headquarters and that he be arrested if he resisted.
The Honorable Speaker wishes to state that he is a law abiding citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who has no immunity against arrest and prosecution except privileges as may be provided by the Legislative Powers and Privileges Act.

Accordingly , the Hon Speaker states for the records that he is available, ready and willing to answer any lawful invitation from any of the Security agencies on any matter for which they may require his attention.

The Speaker expresses dismay at the unprofessional conduct of the Nigerian Police in the attempt to stop him from accessing the House of Representatives chambers on the 20th November 2014 to preside over the Special Session of the House on the State of Emergency Extension requested by Mr President, for which he had recalled members from their working recess.

Most disgraceful is the false statement later issued by the Police in which they claimed that in the lawful exercise of their duties “ Alh Aminu Tambuwal CFR, arrived the venue with a motley crowd, who broke the cordon, assaulted the Police and evaded due process”. This blatant falsehood coming from a law enforcement agency, that is expected to be neutral and lawful, is unfortunate, to say the least.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Hon Speaker came to National Assembly accompanied by Hon Members as is customary during any sitting of the House. They all came with their official vehicles but were disallowed from driving into the premises. Certainly Hon Members, who arrived the precinct of the National Assembly in response to a call to perform an urgent, critical national assignment, cannot be described by any self respecting institution as “a motley crowd"

It is important to remind the Nigeria Police Force that as a public institution that provides common services for all the arms of government, they must not allow themselves to be used by one of the arms to undermine the others.

Malam Imam Imam @imamdimam
Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the Hon Speaker

19 Ekiti lawmakers write Okonjo-Iweala, others, against dealing with Fayose’s “fake” Commissioners

The authentic Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adewale Omirin, and his deputy, Adetunji Orislalde, have said their purported 'impeachment' by seven of their colleagues on Thursday cannot stand.
The described their removal as "unconstitutional" and vowed to resume duties on Monday.
They spoke in Lagos where they were joined by 17 other All Progressives Congress, APC, members of the House to address a press conference.
The 19 lawmakers APC also said they had written three federal ministers asking them not to have any dealings with the three commissioners purportedly approved on Monday by their seven colleagues, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The lawmakers also dispatched another letter to the state governor, Ayo Fayose, faulting the approval of the appointment of the commissioners by seven of their PDP colleagues.
The letters were signed by all the 19 lawmakers.
Copies of the letters were sent to relevant heads of department and agencies under the Federal Government as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The commissioner-nominees, whose appointment was ratified by the seven PDP lawmakers, are Owoseni Ajayi (Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice), Toyin Ojo (Finance) and Kayode Oso (Works and Transport).
The nominees had served in those capacities between 2003 and 2006 when Mr. Fayose presided over the state.
Amid tight security provided by the police on Monday, the PDP lawmakers reconvened the House in the absence of the Speaker and the deputy, both APC members, and approved the appointments of the nominees.
They also confirmed the appointments of 12 advisers to Mr. Fayose and reconstituted the caretaker committees of the 16 Local Government Areas in the state.
But in separate letters to the Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and their Works counterpart, Mike Onolememem, the 19 APC lawmakers, told the ministers that the Assembly had not confirmed the three commissioner-nominees, in compliance with the provision of Section 192 (2) of the 1999 Constitution and that they are not recognised as commissioners in the state.
They said the House received a letter from Mr. Fayose seeking confirmation of the nominees, which was read of the floor on November 11 and it therefore considered the letter and deffered further consideration until a future date when issues relating to the manner of presentation and content of the request would be satisfactorily resolved.
They said this was the situation until November 17 when seven members of the House with the force of the state mobile police detachment and armed thugs invaded the House and purportedly held a session that screened the nominees.
The lawmakers told the ministers that they had drawn the attention of the governor to the several constitutional breaches committed by their seven colleagues.
They listed them as Sections 96 (1), which deals with the quorum for sitting in plenary and 192 (2), which deals with the appointment of commissioners.
"We have advised the Governor that the consideration, screening and confirmation of…..that purportedly took place in the House of Assembly on November 17, 2014 is extra constitutional, illegal, criminal in nature and therefore ultra vires.
"Take notice that the Ekiti State House of Assembly is yet to confirm …..in compliance with the provision of sections 192 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The House therefore does not recognize…. as a Commissioner in Ekiti State."
In the letter to Mr. Fayose, the 19 lawmakers reminded the governor that the House could not consider his request for the confirmation of the commissioner-nominees when it received his letter and therefore deferred it "until a future date when issues relating to the manner of presentation and content of your request to the House were satisfactorily discussed."
They said that was the situation until seven members, under the governor's directive, sat last Monday to confirm the nominees' appointments.
They noted in particular the presence of armed thugs with instruction from the governor to inflict bodily harm on the members and parliamentary staff who resisted the invasion.
."We are constrained to bring to your attention that the said confirmation process by the seven members including three non-members (who were recruited to shore up the number of members in an attempt to form a quorum) is unconstitutional, illegal, and may have elements of criminality."
The lawmakers also said that Order 13 of the House rules explicitly states the process of summoning the plenary session while Order 27, under which the illegal sitting of the seven legislators took place, only envisages a situation where the Speaker and the deputy were not around and not where they were unlawfully excluded.
They also drew the attention of the governor to Section 96 (1) and 192 (2) of the Constitution.
"The cumulative effects of these provisions is that the consideration, screening and confirmation of your nominees that purportedly took place on November 17, 2014, is extra constitutional, criminal in nature and therefore ultra vires," the lawmakers said.

Story of Pastor that Allow No Bra and Underware

A pastor from a church in Dandora Phase 2, an eastern suburb Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, has ordered all female members to go to the church ‘free’ – That is without bras and panties for Christ to enter their lives.

Reverend Njohi of the Lord’s Propeller Redemption Church has advised female worshippers against wearing any undergarments to the church, calling them ungodly.

In a meeting chaired by him, a law was passed banning the wearing of inner wears. Njohi claims that when going to church, people need to be free in ‘body’ and ‘spirit’ to receive Christ.

He went ahead to warn members of dire consequences if they secretly put on their inner wears. A member of the church who pleaded anonymity said at last Sunday’s service, women dressed as the pastor had ordered without bras and panties.

Mothers were also advised to do same and check their daughters when coming to church on Sundays so as to receive Christ too

MUSIC: Boluwaduro feat. Psalmos– REASON

Boluwaduro feat. Psalmos– REASON
Gospel Music minister Boluwaduro is out with a brand new single, a powerful rock piece titled “REASON” featuring one of naija’s finest vocalist & music minister Psalmos
Reason, is one of such divine gifts from God released by the Holy spirit to me during my quiet time. It’s a song that renews our stand and decision to choose Jesus Christ over and over again, a song to remind us of our purpose here on earth.
The Bible says in Galatians 2 vs 20 “For I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I , but Christ that liveth in me “. That’s the message in Reason.
In this dying world, everything points to the fact that true Christians can barely survive the challenges and temptations of each day but of ourselves we can do nothing, though we are in this world, we are not of this world, but Christ in us is the hope of glory. Pls enjoy and be blessed by it “~Boluwaduro

Teacher Revealed While she Had se*x with 12-year-old boy

She claims she sent him P0*nographic texts messages as “s*xual therapy” to motivate him to be a better student.
“That was my purpose, to gain his attention. And yes, I did it in an inappropriate way,” Ethel Anderson, who was 29 at the time the abuse began, said in court.
According to reports, over 230 pages of sexually explicit text messages were sent between the teacher and student.
According to Bay News 9, prosecutors obtained more than 230 pages of sexually explicit text messages between the teacher and student.
Although she admitted sending the texts, she denied any contact occurred, and claimed the victim threatened to turn her in.
The victim, now 14, also testified about the alleged abuse on Tuesday.
“We sat on the couch and we started doing s*xual stuff. At first I told her to stop… she was rubbing on my leg, but then it just led to more,” the victim told the court. “She would say she wanted me so bad and she wanted me to go farther [sic]… I just did not want to lose my virginity to a teacher.”
It was reported that the abuse occurred during math tutoring sessions at Anderson’s home between December 2011 and February 2012.
In testimony, the victim told the court that at the time, he thought he was “living a guy’s dream… [of] dating a teacher,” but that he didn’t tell anyone because he “knew she’d get in trouble.”
If convicted, Anderson faces up to 30 years in prison.

BORNO STUDENTS RETURN TO SCHOOL

Female students in Northern Nigeria.
After eight months of total closure, public schools in Borno State, northern Nigeria, re-opened on Monday, 17 November, 2014, with impressive turnout of pupils.

It would be recalled that public schools in Borno state were shut eight months ago as a result of terror attacks being perpetrated by Boko Haram insurgents.

According to Thisday newspaper report, a visit to some schools in the Maiduguri metropolis and Jere showed that the pupils were still keen to study despite the prevailing insecurity in the state.

It was gathered that there were large turnouts of pupils receiving lessons in most of the schools visited on Wednesday.

Some of the schools visited included Yerwa Central Primary School, Lamisula Primary School, Hausari and the old Maiduguri both in Maiduguri and Jere Local Government Area.

While going round some of the public schools on Wednesday, the Chairman of the committee on the resuscitation of primary education in Borno state, Dr. Mohammed Dongel, assured parents that government was ready to provide adequate security for both the pupils and teachers.

“The state government has also put all necessary machinery in motion to ensure that the pupils learn under conducive environment to ensure improvement in standard of primary education,” Dongel added.

He disclosed that 450 primary schools out of the 1357 schools have so far resumed, adding that the turnout of pupils who have resumed for lessons is impressive.

“So far, the turnout of pupils is impressive with 70 per cent and we hope that by next week the turnout will be 100 per cent,” the chairman added.

“Governor Kashim Shettima will in the next two weeks flag off of free uniform and feeding programme for the pupils,” he also said.

It would be recalled that President Jonathan sent a letter to the Nigerian Senate on Monday seeking for an extension of emergency rule in three North – Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.

The three states are the worst hit by Boko Haram violence that has been going on in Nigeria since 2009.

Meanwhile Chief Edwin Clark and other elders under the aegis of Congress for Equality and Change (CEC) have called the President Jonathan to sack some of the governors of Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States.
